Gibson's Fish and Chips is a family  run business operating for  forty-three years. The first generation owner has passed away recently and  the son now manages the place with the whole brood to the fourth generation pitching in. The son mans the kitchen, his wife  guards the till, the  children and grandchildren serve and bus. Amazing how, with their limited menu and the  emergence  of market savvy competitors ,they were able to retain their customer base and bring in new ones.

Gibsons3_2 The place was a small unpretentious  rectangular affair  and have been that way ever since until about last month. When the adjacent  golf store closed shop, they took the opportunity to expand. They maintained the original restaurant for the customers who want the feel of the old restaurant and opened a portion of the wall for access to a wider room with  a more spacious contemporary feel. I felt though, that the bare walls should contain some art works to give the brown and off white combination an accent of color. I think, the place would look a bit livelier.

Gibson's is just a 10 minute relaxed walk from our place but it was just only yesterday when we gave it a try.We did not regret it. Friendly, relaxed and non-invasive service is what you get.No rehearsed put ons. No textbook suggestive selling mantras by the servers.

Good old-fashioned fish and  chips made from scratch was the best deal. They fish was fresh and  moist inside.  The batter was crunchy and tender. It was deep fried to a nice brown and not greasy and soggy  at all. The accompaniment of chips/ fries were well seasoned and I have no complaints there.  The coleslaw was not that spectacular but it was not a failure either. Daughter ordered a chocolate sundae which capped a wonderful lunch.
