Sizzling Plate

                                  

Tucked in one one of my luggages on my way to Canada were two sizzling plates that  I bought from SM Mega Mall in the Philippines. Sizzling plates are cast iron plates usually oval shaped that come with a wooden service tray.It comes with a removable iron handle that is used to hold the plate when removed from a heat source.I have long wanted these platters to be part of my kitchen hardware. I never had the chance to get them until my recent trip.

Sizzling plates have had their hey days in Philippine restaurants. There was a time when  the fad around town was sizzling steak.Almost every other steakhouse had  sizzling steak on their menus. Then next on the list were sizzling chicken, gambas(shrimps),salpicao(mixed seafood)scallops and other appetizers one can think of that can be served on the platter.
